I am a steadfast advocate for living life with an optimistic outlook, believing that true well-being stems from nurturing positive thoughts, practicing daily affirmations, and consciously surrounding ourselves with individuals who uplift and genuinely support our aspirations. While I strive to embody this philosophy, I admit there are days when the pursuit of perfection feels challenging – we all have those moments, right? Yet, it’s a principle I consistently aspire to, and the rewards reaped from its consistent application have been immeasurable.
Discovering Keri Nola and “A Year on Your Path to Growth”
Recently, I had the pleasure of connecting with Keri Nola, a long-time reader whose journey serendipitously intersected with mine through the vibrant world of social media. It turns out Keri was introduced to my blog by a mutual acquaintance I hadn’t seen in years—a testament to the powerful and often surprising connections fostered by platforms like Facebook. Keri, a licensed mental health counselor in my local area, has recently unveiled her debut book, “A Year on Your Path to Growth.” This inspiring work began as a series of insightful postings on her “Path To Growth” Facebook page, which she launched for her practice in 2010. What truly captivates me about Keri’s Path To Growth Facebook page is the consistent stream of uplifting and positive messages she shares daily. Followers of her page are treated to a regular dose of wisdom and encouragement, designed to inspire reflection and foster personal development.
Isn’t it wonderful to encounter content that genuinely makes you feel good? In an age saturated with overwhelming news cycles and sometimes negative online chatter, messages like Keri’s offer a much-needed sanctuary and a refreshing perspective. Her book delves deeper into these powerful themes, structured thoughtfully into themed chapters that also lend themselves to a daily calendar-like reading experience. From the very first page, I felt an immediate sense of warmth, akin to receiving a comforting embrace from a dear friend. The pages are packed with profound insights and valuable “food for thought” that I am confident will resonate deeply with all of you, offering inspiration and guidance for your own personal journeys.

Insights from the Author: Keri Nola on “A Year on Your Path to Growth”
To give you a deeper understanding of the wisdom within “A Year on Your Path to Growth” and the amazing woman behind it, I asked Keri a few questions. Her responses are as thoughtful and inspiring as her writing.
1 – What inspired you to write your book?
While I always envisioned writing a book as an integral part of my professional journey, the profound catalyst that truly compelled me to put pen to paper was a deeply personal quest for peace following the tragic loss of a cherished friend. As I navigated the complex landscape of grief, I found myself grappling with fundamental questions about life’s purpose and the intricate process of deriving meaning from such intense pain. It was within this very struggle, and the subsequent healing that unfolded, that I unearthed the courage to share my voice and my words with the world. The book, in its current form, organically evolved over several years from the daily doses of inspiration I personally needed to hear and which I consistently wrote and posted on my Facebook page. Eventually, the realization dawned on me that these collected reflections could be transformed into a cohesive and impactful book. While “A Year on Your Path to Growth” isn’t solely dedicated to the topic of grief, it serves as a compassionate guide, offering readers diverse avenues to embrace living from a place of wholeheartedness, boundless love, and genuine joy, all while simultaneously learning to confront and integrate the inevitable pain that is an inherent aspect of the human experience.
2 – What has surprised you most about the book writing process?
Without a doubt, the most striking surprise has been the intense, multifaceted personal growth that has been stirred at every single phase of the process. The journey began with confronting and moving through profound self-doubts and fears before I even made the pivotal decision to publish. This was followed by the raw experience of heart palpitations and nausea on the very day I sent the final manuscript to my publisher—a visceral manifestation of vulnerability and anticipation. Holding the first physical copy of the book in my hands brought tears to my eyes, a moment of profound accomplishment and emotional release. And then, there’s the ongoing learning curve of how to graciously accept compliments and heartfelt gratitude from people who share how the book has profoundly impacted their own journey of self-discovery. Wow, it truly has been an emotional roller coaster of monumental proportions! And yet, if given the chance, I wouldn’t alter a single moment of it. This entire experience has undeniably been one of the most significant and transformative growth opportunities I’ve encountered thus far, and for that, I am infinitely grateful.
3 – How do you like to “feed your soul”?
Oooohhh, I absolutely adore this question! I nourish my soul in a multitude of ways, each contributing to my overall well-being. Spending quality time immersed in meaningful, authentic conversations and cultivating genuine relationships is paramount. Journaling serves as a vital outlet for reflection and processing my thoughts. Practicing yoga helps me connect with my body and find inner peace. Music, in its various forms, deeply moves and inspires me. Painting allows for creative expression and a release from daily pressures. Cooking, of course, is both a creative and nourishing act. And perhaps most joyfully, spending cherished time with my niece and nephew fills my heart with pure, unadulterated happiness. These are just a few of the precious ways I ensure my soul feels replenished and vibrant.
4 – For fun, what’s your favorite type of meal to cook? Any favorite recipe you’d like to share?
My absolute favorite type of meal to cook is one that genuinely excites me to eat! For me, when I’m consciously practicing gentle self-care, meals transform into a truly mindful process. It’s about deeply tuning into my body’s wisdom and intuitively discovering what ingredients and flavors will offer the most profound nourishment. I find immense joy in crafting meals using fresh, vividly colorful ingredients, ensuring a delightful variety of flavors and textures in every bite. While I often draw inspiration from existing recipes, I always make sure to infuse them with my unique spin. This allows me to harness my creativity and incorporate ingredients that truly resonate with my mind, body, and spirit. One recipe that holds a special place in my heart, and which I frequently adapt, is Aggie’s delicious Lemon Pepper Chicken with Artichokes, Mushrooms and Asparagus. My personal twist often involves substituting organic baby spinach for the asparagus and using rice flour to ensure it’s a delightful gluten-free option.
A huge thank you to Keri for sharing her incredible insights and inspiring journey with us!
Nourishing Your Own Soul: Aggie’s Personal Practices
Keri’s reflections on “feeding her soul” truly resonated with me and prompted me to consider my own cherished practices. It’s a wonderful exercise to identify what truly replenishes our inner selves. For me, soul nourishment can manifest in deceptively simple moments, such as sitting quietly in my backyard, completely unplugged from the digital world, simply observing my children’s joyful play and laughter. It can also be found in the more intentional act of spending a peaceful Sunday afternoon after church, lovingly preparing a wholesome meal for my beloved family and treasured friends. These are the moments that truly ground me and fill my cup.
8 Ways I Feed My Soul:
- Cook good, healthy food for someone else: There’s immense joy and satisfaction in nurturing others through a homemade meal, a true act of love.
- Spend time outdoors and near the water: The calming presence of nature, especially water, has a profound restorative effect on my spirit.
- Go to church: Engaging in spiritual reflection and communal worship provides a sense of peace and belonging.
- Unplug (for the afternoon, a day, a few days…): Consciously disconnecting from technology allows for true presence and mental rejuvenation.
- Reading a good book: Getting lost in a captivating story or an informative non-fiction piece is a cherished escape and learning opportunity.
- Do something fun and spontaneous with my family: Creating unexpected, joyful memories with loved ones strengthens bonds and adds sparkle to life.
- Drop in for a yoga class at my gym: The combination of physical movement, mindful breathing, and focused intention is incredibly centering.
- Connect with people, friends and family face-to-face: While social media has its place, genuine in-person connection fosters deeper relationships and understanding.
